April 21, 2014

This week was difficult, still working with the investigators that need to get married. The ward is doing alright. It’s kind of hurting right now with low number of active priesthood holders, but the bishop is great and so we do lots of work with him. I live with two other Elders Elder Coral and Elder Williams and they are great, Elder Williams and I are almost the same person, we get along great. Elder Barbosa and I are doing well, we are getting along great and we have lots of fun together. I am speaking a little bit of Portuguese now ha, with a bit more time speaking I hope I can get down the basics at least. We are doing our best to do our part in hastening the work of salvation. We are inviting members to do as Elder Nielsen directed in the oct 2013 conf, pray for the investigators and missionaries. We feel this little baby step will help more members get active in doing something to help the work. If they can act, it will not only help the investigators but also their lives, because we all should become "engaged in a good cause". I love this work and I know it’s true.

April 14, 2014

This week has been just normal, getting to know members and investigators in the area. . The area is a little dangerous, but haven’t found anything bad yet, I still have not been robbed ha! It’s getting colder, I love it. Makes me want to play Christmas music! So I’ve been listening to Christmas music all week. Our apartment is real bad. It’s really dirty and the neighbors always fight and yell and blast music so we are now looking for a new place to stay. So i'll be moving in a bit.

We are meeting great people. Our area is far from our chapel and apartment. We have to take a bus every day to get to our area. We have lots of people to teach but lots of people aren't married and live coupled up with kids and all and so we have to get them married before we can baptize them, so that’s the biggest struggle is getting people married. We are teaching this guy of about 26 years named Augusto, his wife is a member but they are not married and they have a little boy. Way cool family, they came to church, but they just gotta get married so he can be baptized! We love them and are doing all we can to help them! This area is good. I love my new comp! :) I guess I’ll just make this area my new home again like I did in Villa Maria! I love this work and I know it’s a true work!

April 7, 2014

So big week this week. We had a baptism of a family of 3! It was so good not only for them, but for everyone involved. It really helped the excitement of the branch. It was so good. Then the conference with the baptism was fantastic I loved it. And now for the transfer report....I left ha, Elder Rivera stayed, I will miss him lots! but now I am in Cordoba Capital. I hear it’s a little sketchy the area, it’s a bit dangerous but it just makes me excited! I know the power of God will bless us. My new comp is Elder Brabosa from Brazil! He’s way cool and I’m excited because I’m going to start learning Portuguese from him!

I will miss Villa Maria. I left a lot of my heart there. It will be a place I will never forget. I grew to love so much the members! I will miss it tons.

I got here in my new area a bit ago and it’s really different, the apartment is horrible ha so it’s kind of hard making a change from an area so great to this area. I’m nervous but we will see how it goes!

In the conference I heard a lot about how our faith will be tried and we must defend it! I feel that is so true. These are not easy times, the rains are coming down and the floods are coming up and if we are not built upon the rock of Christ we will be washed away, so, let’s defend that rock and stay on it, the people in the sand may be laughing, and my ridicule us, but we heed them not as Lehi says, because we know in whom we have put our trust. I love this gospel, there is no other security blanket like this. Money can’t do it, neither possession, only the atonement of our Lord.

March 31, 2014

This week was crazy, so Monday Elder Rivera went to Cordoba Capital to do some document work for his visa, I stayed in another area and worked with Elder Calvi from buenos aires. Then Elder Rivera came back tue afternoon. then Thursday Elder Ownes, Riggs and I (other elders we live with) had to go to Cordoba to do document work, so elder Rivera stayed in the other area for a good day until we got back. As we left Elder Calvi gave us coupons to McDonalds, so when we went to Cordoba we ate McDonalds free! haha its way different than in the USA. The weather is cooling down, heading into fall weather, I love the fall season, especially in Argentina. We had 4 investigators come to church yesterday. Veronica who came last week felt sick so she couldn't come, but her daughter Barbara and her little brother came, they are cool. I think Barbara went last night to the women’s session too, then we had victor who is mad at us because he doesn't want to give up a few things to get baptized haha and then the brother of a less active named Julio. So we have potentially a few baptisms for April! Way excited! All great people! The work is progressing, slowly but its coming. A lot of these wards and branches in Cordoba are very strong, and others not so much. Others need a little more pushing along ha, but the people are so wonderful! I really love this place!

March 24, 2014

This week we had a good time finding lots of people and getting people to church. We had a mother and daughter come to church yesterday and they loved it, they felt the love from the members and the spirit of Christ testify of what was said. They felt so good. Elder Rivera and I are about done with our training. We have 2 weeks left of all this and then we will be off, better than we were! I love going through all the training again, it teaches the basics that sometimes we forget over time. It’s been fun. I love this work and I love my Savior.

This week was great I love this work and that we can help the Lord with this. Our investigator Victor is going to be baptized Saturday. He is way good and he loves the book of Mormon. He has had it a week and is already in Jacob. He knows it’s true. Thursday I went up to Cordoba capital to do some work for my visa. It’s going to expire at the end of the month and so I need to renew it, if I don’t, I can’t go home haha! I must be legal to go home at the end of the year. So I went and did some of that with a bunch of other missionaries. I got to chat a bit with Elder Waldron, my buddy from the MTC. He’s awesome! Overall a good week :)
